Quick answer. Solar panel cleaning removes the ag dust, orchard bloom, pollen, wildfire ash, sprinkler minerals and bird droppings sitting between the sun and your cells, on rooftop and ground mount arrays across Fresno and the Central Valley. It is done with a soft brush, low flow and purified water, never pressure and never soap, and we walk the roof rather than the panels, because a footstep puts microcracks in cells that show up months later as a string quietly underproducing. Most Valley systems want one or two cleanings a year, and array size, roof pitch, access and how much dropping buildup is on the glass decide what it costs, and we work the array early while the glass is still cool.

Why Us

Why Choose Our Fresno Solar Panel Cleaning?

Because we clean arrays the way the panel makers say to clean them, soft brush and purified water, and because we already handle the bird problem that lives underneath them.

The Short Answer

Solar panel cleaning removes the ag dust, pollen, wildfire ash and bird droppings sitting between the sun and your cells, which is why an array can underproduce on a cloudless Fresno day. Most Central Valley systems want one or two cleanings a year. We use soft brushes and purified water, never pressure and never soap, and the estimate is free.

Let Our Professionals Thoroughly Clean Your Solar Panels

Most people put off cleaning panels because they are on the roof and out of reach, and then they wait for rain to do it. Rain does not do it. A light Valley rain wets the dust, drags it down the glass and leaves it as mud streaks plus a mineral line right along the bottom frame, so the array often reads worse a day after a shower than it did before. Hard water from sprinkler overspray does the same thing on the low panels of a ground mount.

A proper cleaning is soft brush, low flow and purified water. Purified water carries no dissolved mineral, so the glass dries clear with nothing wiped on it. We work the array early while the glass is still cool, because cold water on hot glass is a risk in July and because water flashes off a hot panel before you can rinse it, which trades dust for spotting.

A standard cleaning covers:

  • Every panel face washed with a soft brush and purified water, including the dirt band that builds along the bottom frame lip where water beads and dries
  • Agricultural dust, orchard bloom, pollen, wildfire ash, sprinkler overspray and bird droppings taken off the glass
  • We walk the roof, never the panels. A footstep puts microcracks in cells that show up months later as a string that quietly underproduces
  • Framing, clamps, visible wiring and mounting hardware looked over while we are up there
  • Debris cleared from between and beneath the rows where access allows, so air can still move behind the panels
  • Before and after photos of your own array, plus a straight report of what we found, including nesting that needs real exclusion rather than another cleanup next year

Improve Energy ProductionEvery layer of dust between the sun and the cell is production you already financed and are not collecting. Washing it off is the cheapest kilowatt hour you will ever buy.
Increase DurabilitySand, ag dust and grit sit on the glass and get ground around by wind. Left long enough that abrasion works on the anti-reflective coating and the frame seals, and the loss does not come back.
Renew And Protect Your PanelsDroppings are acidic and stay damp for weeks under tule fog, which is when they go to work on panel frames, clamps and flashing. Getting them off early is protection, not cosmetics.
Aesthetic AppealNobody wants a roof full of grey, streaked panels facing the street. Clean glass reads dark and even, and that is how the array looked the week it was installed.
Before & After Images ProvidedYou are paying for something you cannot see from the driveway, so we photograph the array before we start and after we finish and send you both.
Purified Water, No SpottingFresno tap water is hard, so it dries and puts the mineral straight back on the glass. Purified water has nothing in it to leave behind, so panels dry clear with no wipe down.

What Keeps Blocking the Sun?

Four things block Valley panels: agricultural dust, tree leaves and needles, hard water from sprinklers, and bird droppings. Wind and weather deliver the first three. Birds deliver the worst one.

Dust, Leaves and Water

Dust is the constant here. We sit in a basin ringed by row crops, orchards, vineyards and dairies, and there are five or six months a year with no meaningful rain to rinse anything off. Spring adds almond bloom and pollen, late summer adds wildfire ash, and all of it settles on glass that is tilted just enough to hold it.

Leaves and needles matter more than their size suggests. A single leaf lying across a panel is a hard shadow, and cells in a panel run in series, so a shaded row drags on the whole string instead of just its own corner. That is also why the dust band along the bottom frame costs more than the even film across the middle of the glass. Sprinkler overspray is the third one, and it is the most preventable. If a lawn head is reaching the lower panels of a ground mount, moving that head is a cheaper fix than cleaning the array more often, and we will say so.

Bird Droppings

Droppings are worse than dust because they are opaque and they stick. Dust scatters light. A dropping blocks it completely, which is a hard shadow on that cell for as long as it sits there, and dried droppings do not rinse off with a hose.

If you live near mature trees or you have pigeons on the roof, expect them. The bigger problem is what is under the panels rather than on them. Pigeons work into the gap between the panel and the tile, and once a pair nests there the droppings, feathers and twigs pack that gap solid, block the airflow the panels rely on to shed heat, and start working on your tile and flashing. Cleaning that out without clipping mesh exclusion around the array buys you a few weeks, because pigeons home back to the exact spot they nested. If we find it we will tell you, and bird proofing can be handled on the same visit.

What Is Valley Dust Actually Costing Your Array?

More than most owners think, and the reason is that soiling is invisible until you look at numbers. A panel that looks fine from the driveway can be carrying an even film of agricultural dust that scatters light before it ever reaches the cell. Nothing looks broken. The array simply makes less than it should on a cloudless day.

One detail explains a lot of confusing production numbers. Soiling is not even across a panel. Dust washes down the glass and collects in a band along the bottom frame lip, where water beads and dries in place. That band shades the lowest row of cells, and because cells run in series, one shaded row drags on the whole string rather than just its own corner. It is why a panel that looks mostly clean can still be costing you, and why we clean the bottom edge and the frame channel instead of just the middle of the glass.

Check it yourself rather than taking a percentage from anybody, including us. Open your monitoring app, find a clear sky day this month, and compare it against the same kind of day right after your system was commissioned. The gap is the soiling. Then look again a week after a cleaning. That is the honest measurement, and it is the one we tell customers to use.

Why You Should Never Pressure Wash A Solar Panel

Because a solar panel is a sealed electrical device with a precision optical surface on top, and pressure attacks both. The frame joints, the junction box and the cable glands are sealed against falling rain, not against a concentrated jet held six inches away. Force water past those seals and you no longer have a cleaning problem, you have a replacement problem.

The glass is the other half. Panels carry an anti-reflective coating whose whole job is to pull more light into the cell. Abrasive pads, acidic cleaners and high pressure wear that coating down, and you end up with a panel that looks clean and permanently makes less than it used to. Microcracks in the cells are the third risk, and they never show up visually at all. Manufacturers specify gentle washing and no abrasives for exactly these reasons, and damage traced back to improper cleaning is generally not covered.

One more honest thing, since somebody will try to sell you the opposite. If your monitoring shows no meaningful gap and your array sits on a steep residential pitch away from the orchards, you do not need quarterly cleaning. Once or twice a year covers most Fresno rooftops. Ground mounts near a dairy, a dusty ag road or a low tilt commercial rack are the systems that genuinely need more, because a shallow tilt holds dust that a steep one sheds.

Every Property Type

Solar Cleaning In Fresno CA

Solar panel cleaning in Fresno CA covers more than tract-home rooftops. We clean ground-mount arrays on ag and dairy property around Kerman, Selma, Fowler and Tulare, where the dust load is heaviest and the panels sit lowest and closest to the source. We clean warehouse and commercial rooftop systems along the industrial corridors, where the racking is nearly flat and holds everything that lands on it. And we clean foothill systems up toward Oakhurst, where pine pollen and needle debris behave nothing like Valley floor dust.

Each of those has a different access plan, a different soiling profile and a different honest interval. Give us the address and the panel count and we will quote it exactly, free, usually the same day.

Solar Panel Cleaning FAQ

Frequently Asked Solar Panel Cleaning Questions

Once or twice a year suits most Fresno-area systems. Once is enough for a rooftop array in town with normal dust exposure. Twice, or more, is the right call for ground mounts near orchards and dairies, systems on unpaved roads, low-tilt arrays that shed less on their own, and any array with a bird problem underneath.
Yes, because anything sitting on the glass blocks light from reaching the cell. How much you recover depends on how soiled the array was. Rather than quote a number at you, we tell customers to check their own monitoring app before and after: compare a clear-sky day pre-cleaning to a clear-sky day a week later.
Never. Pressure can force water past the seals around the frame, junction box and cable entries, and it can damage the anti-reflective coating on the glass. We use soft brushes, low flow and purified water, which is the method panel manufacturers specify.
Not when it is done properly. Manufacturers generally call for gentle washing with soft brushes or cloths and no abrasives or harsh chemicals, and damage caused by improper cleaning is typically what falls outside coverage. Our method is built around those guidelines. If your manufacturer has specific instructions, send them to us and we will follow them.
Purified water. Ordinary Fresno tap water is hard, so it dries and leaves mineral deposits straight back onto the glass you just paid to have cleaned. Purified water carries no dissolved minerals, so panels dry spot free without needing to be wiped down.
It depends on the panel count, roof or ground mount, roof pitch and access, how heavy the soiling is, and whether there is bird nesting to deal with underneath. We quote exactly rather than posting a flat rate. Call (559) 975-8124 or send the form and we will give you a free number, usually the same day.
Yes. Warehouse and commercial rooftop systems, ag and dairy ground mounts, and larger multi-row arrays across Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare and Merced counties. Recurring maintenance schedules are available so the array gets cleaned on a cycle instead of whenever someone notices the production drop.
Yes, and it is one of the things we are best known for. Cleaning droppings and nesting material out from under an array without excluding the birds just resets the clock. We clear it out and install mesh exclusion so the pigeons cannot get back under the panels, and we can do it on the same visit as the cleaning.
No. A standard exterior wash does not require you to power down the system. We work early morning or later in the day when the panels are cool, both because cold water on hot glass is a bad idea and because cool panels clean better without water flashing off mid-pass.
Late spring, after pollen and orchard bloom finish, and again in fall once wildfire smoke season and the dry summer dust load have done their work. Those two windows sit right before the long stretches where you most want the production. We are open 24/7 year-round if you need it sooner.
